Liverpool has officially announced the signing of Huko Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, after the player completed his medical and signed his contract. The Reds also confirmed that Ekitike will immediately join his teammate’s pre-season program in Hong Kong.
Liverpool Confirmed Ekitike Signing
The Reds have announced the arrival of the French international attacker on the club’s official website on Wednesday. Ekikite has completed his medical and signed a six-year deal at Anfield, following a transfer reportedly worth 80m euros, which could go up to 95m including bonuses.
The former PSG attacker spent one and a half seasons with Frankfurt, but is already putting on exciting performances, which has attracted plenty of interest. Liverpool beat competition from Newcastle United and Manchester United for the 22-year-old striker’s signature.
Ekitike Could Make His Debut in Hongkong
As confirmed by the club, the Frenchman will be joining his teammates on their current pre-season tour in Hong Kong. Although his official transfer move is still subject to international clearance, Ekitike could potentially make his debut already in Liverpool’s next friendly match against AC Milan.
The Reds will play against Massimiliano Allegri’s men next Saturday, and if Ekitike is in good shape, he could likely get some playing time. Nevertheless, the most important thing for Liverpool is that the young striker would be available to take part in the team’s current pre-season tour.
After facing Milan, Liverpool will still continue their pre-season in Asia as they head to Japan and will face Yokohama FM. Should Ekitike miss out on the weekend clash against the Rossoneri, the French international should be available for that game in Japan.
