Child actor Ben Wang, known for his role as Wyatt Callow in The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, is all set to make his big-screen debut as ‘The Karate Kid’ in the sixth installment of The Karate Kid franchise.
Born on January 1st, 2000, in Shanghai, Wang immigrated to the United States at the age of six after his parents’ divorce. Wang grew up in Northfield, Minnesota, and studied musical theater at New York University. Commonly known for his breakout role as Jin Wang in the Disney+ series American Born Chinese, Wang made his debut in a 2021 episode of the TV series MacGyver, where he played the character of Eli Brown.
After working in multiple TV shows, Wang is now scheduled to appear next in the lead role in Sony Pictures’ Karate Kid: Legends. Here, the actor will be seen working alongside franchise icons like Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan.
This year has been notable for Ben Wang, as reports suggest that he will be joining a star-studded cast for The Hunger Games: Sunrise On The Reaping. The cast includes actors like Joseph Zada, Whitney Peak, Mckenna Grace, and Maya Hawke. The film is scheduled to be released on November 20th, 2026, and is being directed by Hunger Games veteran Francis Lawrence.
Karate Kid: Legends is going to be the sixth film of The Karate Kid franchise, where Ben Wang will be playing the role of Li Fong, a young kung fu prodigy who moves from Beijing to New York with his mother. As he faces challenges adjusting to his new environment and becomes a rival of the local karate champion, Li decides to train for a karate tournament with Mr. Han (played by Jackie Chan) and Daniel LaRusso (played by Ralph Macchio).
