Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will reduce Long Island Drive to one lane with flagging operations for three weeks starting on Monday, May 5.
Daily and overnight flagging operations will continue through May 26, weather permitting, according to a GDOT news release. This will not impact traffic on I-285.
Daytime closures will require flagging from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Long Island Drive at Mitchell Road.
Overnight closures will take place from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m.
The release said the exact time of the lane closures may change due to weather conditions. Intermittent traffic pacing and lane and ramp closures may occur within the work zone. Motorists should reduce speed, expect delays, and exercise caution while traveling through work zones. GDOT asks motorists to stay alert and watch for workers.

The work is part of the I-285 Westbound Auxiliary Lane project, which extends the auxiliary lane between Roswell Road and Riverside Drive and reconstructs the Mt. Vernon Highway bridge over I-285.
The I-285 Westbound Auxiliary Lane project is one of the I-285 Advanced Improvement Projects, the release said. It is part of the large-scale projects across the state to create additional capacity to improve freight movement, provide operational improvements and efficiencies, enhance safety, and decrease travel times on the transportation network.
