On Wednesday, American President Donald Trump commuted the federal sentence of Gangster Disciples founder Larry Hoover, who has been serving six life sentences for murder and racketeering.

Larry Hoover, aged 74, has been charged with multiple life sentences in federal prison, including a 200-year sentence which was imposed on state charges in Illinois for the 1973 murder of William ‘Pooky’ Young.

Donald Trump’s action overturns the federal charges, but it does not apply to the 200-year sentence in Illinois. But this did not stop rapper Kanye West and Drake from celebrating Larry Hoover’s freedom.
