The Kaduna State Government has established a significant strategic alliance aimed at bolstering women’s engagement in the agricultural sector, officials announced on Tuesday.
In a high-level strategic session, the state’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Technology (MBIT) joined forces with the Ministry of Agriculture and Dev-Afrique Advisors, a prominent social impact organisation, to advance the agricultural component of Kaduna’s Women’s Economic Empowerment (WEE) Policy.
During the proceedings, Agriculture Commissioner Murtala Dabo outlined several key initiatives designed to enhance women’s economic participation through improved access to arable land. These programmes form a central pillar of Kaduna’s broader commitment to fostering inclusive growth and empowering women throughout the agricultural value chain.

“Women’s participation in agriculture is not merely about equity—it’s essential to our economic development,” Mr Dabo told attendees. “From labourers to small-scale farmers and entrepreneurs, women must be properly positioned to contribute to and benefit from our agricultural economy.”
The Commissioner emphasised the vital role of agriculture in Kaduna’s economic landscape and detailed ongoing efforts to dismantle barriers that have historically limited women’s participation in the sector.
The strategic session also explored various approaches to leverage sector-specific interventions that could catalyse women-led agricultural enterprises, reinforcing Kaduna’s comprehensive strategy in alignment with the objectives of the WEE Policy.
This collaboration represents a continuation of Dev-Afrique’s technical support towards Kaduna’s WEE implementation, which focuses on developing integrated, sector-focused strategies that elevate women’s economic participation whilst promoting sustainable development within the state’s agricultural framework.
