Mazher Sayed plays the role of Anil Kothari in Anupamaa. The show will soon complete five years. In an exclusive chat with BollywoodLife, the actor has shared his opinion about the show.
Rupali Ganguly starrer Anupamaa has become the top TV serial again this week. The TRPs of the show have been high ever since it began. The show has been through many changes in the last one year. Many new characters have been introduced in the show. Stars like Shivam Khajuria, Adrija Roy, Randeep Rai, Spreha Chatterjee, Rahil Azam, Manish Goel and others have entered the show. Mazher Sayed is also a part of the show. He is seen playing the role of Anil Kothari in the show.
It’s a privilege to be part of a show such as Anupamaa, shared actor Mazher Sayed in an exclusive interview with BollywoodLife. As the show, produced by Rajan Shahi and Deepa Shahi, completes five years, the actor says that it has taught him a lot.
‘Anupamaa has been the epitome of justice’
He said, “It feels great being a part of this iconic show. I feel privileged, and I hope it keeps running for another 15 more years—thu thu thu! Anupama has been the epitome of justice and standing up for what’s right. She reminds me of all the sacrifices a woman makes to keep a family strong, even if she ends up being blamed for everything. I used to watch Rajni, a serial on Doordarshan, as a child and felt inspired by her. Anupama reminds me of that same strength and spirit.”
The actor plays the role of Anil in the show, and adds that he is very different from him in real life. “Anil is definitely not me but I do relate to him in some ways. I’ve seen men in families who can’t voice their opinions due to various reasons—maybe to keep the family peace or because they’ve sacrificed their own dreams. So I understand where he’s coming from, but he doesn’t influence my personal life at all. He’s weak until he becomes strong, and I don’t take that into my real life,” he said. This is a big story in entertainment news and TV news.
He added, “Anupamaa is successful because every character has a unique personality and graph, and their relationships are layered and real. It connects with people deeply. The depth of a character mostly depends on the writers and the story. As an actor, you can improvise only up to a certain point. But if the foundation is strong, it naturally helps you go deeper.”
