The prosecuting counsel, Sulaiman Adebayo, urged the court to remand the defendants at the Olokuta Correctional Centre, saying the charges leveled against the defendants contravene Sections 516, 42, 383, 390(9), 80, 213(b), 69, and 70 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
According to Adebayo, if the three defendants were granted bail, they may likely cause another communal war in the entire Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state, hence the need to remand them in the Correctional Centre.
But the defence counsels, Olugbenga Akinkuotu, Adeolu Ajayi, Ebriku David and Kehinde Aladedudure opposed the remand application and requested for a time to file a counter-affidavit.
The Magistrate, Damilola Sekoni, subsequently, adjourned the ruling on the bail application to May 14, 2025 and ordered the defendants to remain in police custody pending the decision of the court.
