Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, has directed an immediate investigation into allegations that officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) extorted ₦5.2 million from a group of young men.

According to a viral social media post, the victims were reportedly travelling from Ado-Ekiti in Ekiti State to Akure, Ondo State, when the alleged incident occurred.
In a statement issued by Babatunde Alao, his Special Adviser on Media, the Minister condemned the alleged misconduct, stressing that any officer found culpable would be made to face the full force of the law.

“We will not tolerate any form of misconduct from our security agencies. We are building a paramilitary that is disciplined, professional, and serves Nigeria and Nigerians with all sense of dignity and patriotism.
“In this case, we will see that justice is upheld and ensure that security personnel serve with forthrightness”, he said.
