Nigerian defender Leon Balogun faces an uncertain future at Rangers after suffering a serious cheekbone fracture that could sideline him for the rest of the season.
The 36-year-old centre-back has enjoyed a strong campaign with the Scottish Premiership champions, featuring in 26 matches across all competitions.
However, he hobbled off the pitch during Rangers’ UEFA Europa League quarter-final clash against Athletic Bilbao, casting doubt over his involvement in the remainder of the season.

Balogun’s current contract is set to expire in June, and with just five league games left, it is widely believed that he may have played his final match for Barry Ferguson’s side.
Veteran defender unsure of Glasgow future
When asked about his contract situation following Rangers’ loss at San Mames in Spain, the former Mainz 05 and Brighton & Hove Albion defender admitted he’s uncertain about what lies ahead, although he made clear his desire to stay.
“I’ve wanted that for ten years, to be a Rangers player since I stepped into the building,” Balogun told Rangers Review.
“Everyone knows how much I love this club; I embrace everything it stands for. I’ve really taken it to heart, so if I can stay for another season, I’ll be glad.”
Rangers expected to make summer changes
Balogun could be one of four players set to leave Ibrox this summer, with Tom Lawrence, Ianis Hagi, and Neraysho Kasanwirjo reportedly facing uncertain futures.
As Rangers begin to look ahead to the next campaign, the club must now decide whether to retain the experienced Nigerian or allow him to walk away at the end of his deal.
