Veteran Bollywood actress Sonali Bendre, in an interview with Bollywood Bubble, opened up about the filming experience of Hum Saath Saath Hain. The actress was looking back at the most iconic scenes from the movie and revealing the story behind them.

Annoyed By Salman

Sonali played the role of Preeti, who was engaged to Prem, played by Salman Khan. However, unlike their on-screen chemistry, Sonali was often frustrated with Salman off-screen for annoying her during her close-up shots.

Salman’s Close-Up Antics

We were fighting all the time. I promise you, I mean, you know I should ask Salman about it. Because whenever I was giving close-ups, Salman would make faces at me. And I would get so pissed off that I would say, ‘What the hell?’ said Sonali Bendre.

Understanding Salman’s Nature

Though she was annoyed with Salman Khan a lot in the beginning, Sonali soon understood Salman Khan’s true nature. The actress admitted that Salman purposefully makes it hard for people to like him.

Soft Heart, Rough Exterior

Sonali Bendre said, “Actually, he puts on a really rough exterior, but he’s a softy. But you know what, it took me time because I was like, ‘what the hell,’ but it took me a while actually to figure out that he’s a nice guy.”

Director’s Unique Condition

Sonali Bendre also revealed that Suraj Barjatya had put a condition on her to act as Dr. Preeti. She said that the film’s director agreed to give Preeti a desi twist rather than a more modernized and western one only if she wore the nose ring that she wore for auditions.
