“Unfortunately, due to the non supporters and the company that own the property, it’s not financially viable to continue.
“Good luck to whoever takes the tenancy on. (Pre warning, there’s no kitchen)
“Much love”.
Under the most recent tenants, the pub’s Google reviews boast almost all five-star reviews with people complimenting the “welcoming staff” and calling it a “lovely local pub”.
It now shows on Google as “permanently closed”.
The news comes after the team took it on in October last year, after it closed in June 2024 under the then-landlord Phil Hoyle.
The London Tavern has closed (Image: NQ) He had said: “Running a pub is extremely hard these days – my energy costs went up from £800 a month to £6,000 a month.
“And with Covid debts, wage bill and competition from supermarkets it has become even harder in the last couple of years.
“I also have a serious health issue which requires me to rest for two months, after which I should be back to full health.”
The pub then reopened on Friday, October 11, with a spokesperson saying: “We’re excited to reopen our doors this evening to welcome back all our guests for a top-of-the-range tipple.
“Located on Linford Road, we know how important the London Tavern is to the local community and our new publican cannot wait to reopen the beloved pub and start serving the people of Poulner and surrounding areas.”
It is understood the current team has now left.
The pub is now listed on the Stonegate Group’s website, with a guide rent per week of £596 and a forecast turnover of £574,484 per year. It is available on a fixed-term tenancy.
