Framingham man found guilty of murdering his wife

A Framingham man was convicted of first-degree murder Friday after a weeklong trial. 

Edvardo Gomes-Da Silva, 42, was found to have fatally stabbed his wife Neiriane Pereira-Da Silva, 30, in 2022, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office. 

Framingham police responded to a home on Taylor Street at about 10:30 p.m. on July 17, 2022. A 911 caller told authorities that they had seen blood on the stairway to the third floor of their apartment building and were concerned that someone may be in danger, officials said. 

When they arrived, officers found Gomes-Da Silva and Pereira-Da Silva both with stab wounds. Pereira-Da Silva was transported to MetroWest Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Gomes-Da Silva was also transported to a local hospital. 

Investigators later determined that the two shared a child and were in the process of breaking up. Gomes-Da Silva learned that Pereira-Da Silva was in a relationship with another man and that she was going to have a child with him. He killed her out of jealousy before attempting to die by suicide, officials said. 

“This is a tragic case of domestic violence. Neiriane Pereira-Da Silva was attempting to start a new relationship when the defendant violently attacked her. We know these circumstances can be especially dangerous for victims. The defendant had made statements that he was not going to permit the victim and his daughter to live with anyone but him. This type of controlling behavior can often tragically lead to violence,” District Attorney Marian Ryan said in a statement.
