Former Top Gear star James May to bring show to Southampton



May will present his show, Explorers: The Age of Discovery, on October 23.

The live event will showcase the tales of explorers who ventured into the unknown, from Ice Age migrations to the era of space travel.

Audiences can expect a theatrical presentation of stories featuring both famous and lesser-known figures.

Among the explorers to be highlighted by May are Leif Erikson, John Cabot, Tupaia, Stanley and Livingstone, Gertrude Bell, Burke and Wills, as well as moonwalkers and pioneers of space exploration.

The show will also delve into the challenges of interplanetary and intergalactic travel.

James May is widely recognised for his role as a co-presenter on the motoring programmes Top Gear and The Grand Tour.

Best known for being a third of The Grand Tour and Top Gear’s presenting trio – alongside Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond – the car enthusiast will be on stage at Southampton Guildhall for one night on Thursday, October 23.
