Emraan Hashmi’s new film Ground Zero is now running in theatres. Far away from his romantic/ serial kisser/ gangster roles, Emraan Hashmi is seen as a BSF officer Narendra Nath Dhar Dubey in this one. It is directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar and produced under Excel Entertainment. As the movie made it to the theatres, it received positive reviews from all corners. Fans and critics lauded the crisp, no-nonsense action thriller. However, it has taken a slow start at the box office.
As per the early estimates shared by Sacnilk.com, Emraan Hashmi’s Ground Zero has made around Rs 92 lakh at the box office on its day 1. These are the early estimates and there is a possibility that the film will cross the mark of Rs 1 crore. However, the number is much lesser compared to that of recently release biggies – Kesari 2 and Jaat. On day 1, Akshay Kumar’s Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh had made around Rs 7.75 crore. On the other hand, Sunny Deol’s action thriller Jaat had made around Rs 9.25 crore on its opening day. The positive word of mouth could give the needed push to Ground Zero at the box office.
Emraan Hashmi’s Ground Zero seems to be facing a tough competition, especially from Akshay Kumar’s Kesari 2. On April 25, i.e, day 8 of film’s release, Kesari 2 managed to mint around Rs 3.34 crore. The grand total of the film has now a few lakhs away from hitting the Rs 50 crore mark.
Sunny Deol’s Jaat made approximately Rs 67 lakh on April 25, i.e, day 16. These are the early estimates and the actually figures are yet to come in. The total collection of Jaat has crossed the mark of Rs 81.42 crore. It remains to be seen if Ground Zero is able to touch these benchmarks or not in following days.
