Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that a long-awaited showdown between British heavyweight rivals Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury is now more likely than ever before.
After nearly a decade of build-up, failed negotiations, and social media spats, the blockbuster bout between Joshua and Fury could finally be on the horizon.
Speaking to Sky Sports Boxing, Hearn confirmed that Joshua is ready to face Fury once he recovers from minor elbow surgery and that the ball is firmly in Fury’s court.

“AJ’s got to have a little keyhole surgery on an elbow. He’ll be back post-September,” Hearn said.
“When we talk about big fights, this fight is the biggest, not just in British boxing, but in world boxing by a mile. I just feel like it’s time. This is the moment. We’re reliant upon Tyson Fury, but we’re ready to go.”
Fury, who has teased a return to the ring on social media multiple times this year, has yet to officially confirm his next opponent. But Hearn believes the undefeated former champion won’t be able to resist the lure of fighting Anthony Joshua.
“He’s a competitive so-and-so,” Hearn said of Fury. “And I just know in his mind he’ll want to dance with Anthony Joshua. So, dust those shoes off, and let’s make it happen.”
