Drew Barrymore has strong ties to Hollywood. Born into the Barrymore acting dynasty she was catapulted to international fame with her role in E.T the Extra-Terrestrial at seven years old.
On her Drew Barrymore Show this week, the actress and TV host reflected on the lessons she has learned over the years in her job, saying she learned to work hard for herself and to be “grateful”.
Barrymore, 50, said she “lost everything” at the age of 13.

“Everyone has good moments and bad moments, but when I was 13, I truly lost everything. From my own doing,” she said.
She reportedly went to rehab at age 13.
“I was never unprofessional, but I had a real car crash of a life,” she explained.

“Nobody wanted to work with me, and I understood why and I took repsonsibility for myself and it was a great lesson and I really got the memo.
“It showed me to take responsibility for myself and to appreciate every single job that came my way… I love having an infallable work ethic.
“It all just keeps coming back to you.”

The actress, who is the daughter of late Hollywood star John Drew Barrymore and Jaid Barrymore, became legally emancipated from her parents at age 14.
She went on to continue acting in the years following and forged a successful career with roles in Scream, The Wedding Singer, Never Been Kissed, Charlie’s Angels and Donnie Darko.

Now she’s the host of her own talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show.
She previously shared a black and white photograph of her dad and wrote: “I love where I come from. My mom and dad got me here. And I am forever grateful to them both.”
In February, when Barrymore marked her milestone 50th birthday, she reflected on her life and said: “I’m so excited to be 50! I’m full of gratitude today.”
She added in another post shared with her millions of fans: “I’m so grateful for everything that has led to right now. There isn’t a moment in time that I take for granted.”
