Does June 12 owe Gov Fubara any respite?

Date:

Confusion seems to rule Rivers State at the moment at this point in the state of emergency (SOE) in the oil-rich state. The confusion stems from the apparent lack of direction of the matters that caused the state SOE in the first place.

The question on the lips of most citizens of the state is whether June 12 broadcast by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would contain a line on Rivers State. If yes, they wonder if it would conform with the rumours that the SOE may be lifted and most of all, Gov Sim Fubara would be recalled to the seat of power being the Brick House in Port Harcourt.

The state is now ruled by rumour in the absence of the many machineries of power that governed the state. Apart from few statements that emanate from the Govt House once in a while announcing the few activities of the Sole Administrator, nothing else is heard about governance.

The fierce activities of the Fubara camp called SIMplified Movement versus the Wike Camp had dominated the state before ice water was poured on it. Next, Fubara was said to have visited both Tinubu and Wike, and then, tension died and Wike said he was not fighting Fubara. On the other hand, Fubara showed cold shoulders to his SIMplified camp. Everywhere went quiet before no one seemed to know where the midnight snake put its head.

All this is said to be to win the love the president and FCT minister so that Fubara can return to power. Has Fubara begged enough? Is Abuja reassured enough? Are the 27 lawmakers now reassured? If the answers are yes, June 12 may owe Fubara. If not, then, the wait may continue.
