Thanks to members of the public using the what3words app, officers were able to locate both incidents on Saturday, avoiding the need to “spend time searching for them.”
“What3words is a great help to all emergency services,” said a spokesperson for New Forest Police.
“It allows us to reach incidents fast, even in areas that aren’t easily identifiable—something that can be lifesaving in emergencies.
“It’s worth looking at how what3words operates and maybe adding it to the apps on your phone.”

This was not the first time officers had encountered such incidents in the New Forest.
The spokesperson added: “Yes, another burnt-out car, and yes, more cannabis waste.
“Stay safe everyone”.
