Botley: Boardman bike worth £500 stolen from garage

The break-ins, which took place at around 4.30am, have left neighbours in Botley feeling “anger and upset”.

Hampshire police said a burglary was reported at a house on Avocet Close, where entry was gained to the rear of the property and bank cards were stolen.

The cards were then fraudulently used, and a car at the same house was entered but no other property was taken.

Further suspicious activity, including three unknown men looking into vehicles on Troon Road and Chaffinch Gardens, was also raised with police.

A Boardman bike, valued at £500, was also reported stolen from a garage on Fieldfare Crescent.

In response to the spree of suspicious activity, Sergeant Ralph Akehurst of the Hedge End Neighbourhood Policing Team said he “fully” understands the community’s “anger and upset”.

He said: “I want to reassure you all that we are working extremely hard to investigate each report, and that are enquiries are very much ongoing to establish the full circumstances and ultimately deal with those responsible.

“I’d ask for anyone with any information about the incidents, including any footage, to please call us on 101, quoting incident number 44250300283.

“Our officers will be out and about in the area for the rest of the day and over the coming evenings and days, completing proactive patrols and offering further reassurance to the community in the process.”

A spokesperson for the police added: “You can also share information, anonymously, by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“We’ll do our best to keep you all updated on our progress in the investigation, as and when we are able to.”
