Check out this brief roundup of recent restaurant openings and announcements of upcoming restaurants you might have missed in April.

Now Open

Rosetta Bakery
Two Buckhead Plaza, 3050 Peachtree Road, Buckhead

The Miami-based Italian bakery and cafe, known for its bombolone, focaccia and espresso drinks, is now open daily at Two Buckhead Plaza from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. This is the first location of Rosetta Bakery in Georgia.

Prefecture Japanese Steakhouse
2277 Peachtree Road, Buckhead

The Japanese steakhouse rebranded to NoriFish Sushi and Izakaya in April. Owner and chef Sean Park, who owns both Prefecture and NoriFish in Sandy Springs, said to expect hand rolls and izakaya-style dishes on the menu in Buckhead. “We are excited to not only bring and serve the same delicious dishes that our guests have come to love from NoriFish Sandy Springs but to add and offer favorite small plates from Prefecture,” Park said.

Utopia
50 Upper Alabama St., Underground Atlanta

Lalani Ventures, the owners behind Underground Atlanta, and Premier Hospitality Group opened Utopia on Upper Alabama Street. Billed as an “upscale Latin fusion restaurant and lounge” with “space-age” decor, Utopia serves everything from Wagyu beef served on hot stones to vegan dishes, paired with cocktails, beer, and wine. Open daily from 11 a.m. until late for brunch, lunch, dinner, and late-night. 

BlackJack Bar Tapas
1080 Peachtree St., Midtown

26 Thai chef and owner Niki Pattharakositkul opened Blackjack Bar Tapas in April, a tapas-style restaurant serving a fusion of Asian dishes and cocktails.

Zahra Mediterranean Grill
Chattahoochee Food Works, 1235 Chattahoochee Ave., Underwood Hills

The Mediterranean restaurant stall, owned by Chef Steven Ferdinand, opened at the Underwood Hills food hall for wood-fired kebabs, salads, mezze like hummus and baba ganoush, fresh pita, and Moroccan tea service.

Belen Bistro + Market
115 Sycamore St., Decatur

The owners behind Argentinian bakery Belen de la Cruz opened Belen Bistro + Market in the former Boho 115 space just off Decatur Square. Look for Belen’s popular empanadas on the menu, along with choripan, milanesas, butternut squash ravioli, and entraña (Argentinian skirt steak). Open for lunch and dinner, starting at 11:30 a.m. The menu will expand at dinner in the coming weeks.

Smash Burger by Vice
3100 Heritage Walk, Alpharetta

The new counter-service restaurant from Chef Nick Leahy (Vice Kitchen; formerly Nick’s Westside) is now open at Heritage Walk for burgers, hot dogs, fries, and shakes. Leahy will also open Vice Steak Bar at the complex later this spring.

Laghman Express
3070 Windward Plaza, Alpharetta

New York City-based Uzbek restaurant chain Laghman Express just opened off Windward Parkway in Alpharetta and is already drawing crowds. The halal restaurant features dishes from the Central Asian country of Uzbekistan, including handmade noodles, wontons, lamb-stuffed manti (dumplings), savory naan, and grilled meat entrees. Try the Moroccan tea service.

Uberto
208 Caldwell St., Gay

Chef Ryan Smith, owner of Michelin-starred Staplehouse, opened tasting menu restaurant Uberto as part of the experience at new luxury guest ranch Quercus in Gay, GA. The restaurant is open to both guests and non-guests of Quercus.

Coming Attractions

Side Saddle Wine Saloon
680 Hamilton Ave., Boulevard Heights

Wine bar Side Saddle will open soon at the new Penman development along the Beltline in Boulevard Heights. The wine bar, from Finca to Filter owner Kayla Bellman, was to open in late April. The opening was pushed to May due to a permitting snafu. We’ll have more on the opening of Side Saddle soon. The wine bar is joined by another location of Finca to Filter coffee shop and cafe next door, which is currently open for takeout service while Bellman resolves the permitting issue.

STAXX
1160 Ridge Ave., Peoplestown

Health-driven restaurant STAXX will open as a food stall at Switchman Hall at Terminal South in Peoplestown this summer. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, STAXX will feature a walk-up window accessible from the patio. 

Urban Grind Brew Box
Pittsburgh Yards, 352 University Ave., Pittsburgh

A location of Marietta Street coffee shop Urban Grind will open soon inside a converted shipping container at Pittsburgh Yards. Urban Grind Brew Box will open in the container courtyard at Pittsburgh Yards, serving coffee and tea as well as grab-and-go breakfast and lunch items like sandwiches, panini, and salads. Owner Cassandra Ingram also plans to add rooftop seating to Urban Grind Brew Box.

Northern China Eatery
665 Auburn Ave., Old Fourth Ward

It appears the second location of Northern China Eatery is getting closer to opening on the Eastside Beltline. Construction fencing is up, and a sign indicates the restaurant is hiring. Last year, owner Fan Zhang told Rough Draft that an in-town location of the popular Buford Highway restaurant, known for its dumplings, would open along this busy section of the trail. This new location will open beside Emerald City Bagels and its bagel sandwich automat. 

Phew’s Pies
The Municipal Market (Sweet Auburn Curb Market), 209 Edgewood Ave., Sweet Auburn/Downtown

The popular pizza delivery service owned by Matthew “Phew” Foster, will open in May at Sweet Auburn Curb Market. Foster posted an Instagram reel showing work in progress on the pizza stall, including the installation of a new pizza oven. Foster leans into Atlanta with the flavors for his pizzas, like a lemon pepper wet pie topped with lemon pepper wet wings and an oxtail and ricotta cheese pizza topped with stewed carrots, butter beans, green and yellow onions, and Scotch Bonnet.
