Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna and Egypt’s Hana Goda are set to discover their opponents for the 2025 ITTF World Table Tennis Championships. The official draw takes place on Wednesday, April 30, ahead of the tournament scheduled for May 17–25 in Doha, Qatar.
Aruna and Goda among top seeds
Aruna, currently ranked 20th in the men’s singles, and Goda, 27th in the women’s singles, will spearhead the African contingent at the championship. Both players are expected to be seeded and are seen as serious contenders on the global stage.
World rankings set the stage
The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) confirmed that the Week 18 World Rankings, released on April 29, will be used to seed players for the competition. These rankings will determine the draw and the path each player must navigate to reach the podium.
Five titles up for grabs
The 2025 World Championships will feature five events: Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. All events will follow a straight knockout format.
In the singles, 32 players will be seeded, while the rest will be randomly drawn into a 128-player bracket. In doubles, 16 seeded pairs and 48 others will make up a 64-pair draw. Singles matches will be played in best-of-seven games, and doubles in best-of-five.
Doha to host world’s best
The ITTF World Table Tennis Championships Finals represent the pinnacle of individual achievement in the sport, attracting elite players from every continent. Medals will be awarded to winners (gold), runners-up (silver), and semi-finalists (bronze).
