Tennis is now represented in the Sports app

Apple has released version 3.0 of the Sports app for iOS, with the new version introducing tennis for the first time, just in time for Wimbledon.

The Sports app covers quite a few different sports types, including soccer, ice hockey, Formula 1, and others, providing the latest scores and results to its users. In a Wednesday update, the app now supports tennis.

There are two new listings under My Leagues, with Men’s Tennis accompanied by Women’s Tennis. Each offers users the tennis scores for major events, including the upcoming Wimbledon tournament in the UK.

The sections also include the WTA Singles Rankings, complete with the ranking scores of each player.

While tennis is the main introduction this time around, Apple has made a few other smaller quality-of-life changes.

That includes a new home screen layout, which displays all of the upcoming events by league. Furthermore, you can also rearrange the order that which the leagues are shown, under the Edit menu.

Lastly, MLB fans will be able to see the pitcher and batter matchups at the top of every scorecard, so they can quickly review opposing pairings.

Other recent updates to the Sports app include details of the Bundesliga relegation play-off, rankings on league pages, the highlighting of NHL goal scorers, and game card sharing.

Sports is free to download from the App Store, and requires an iPhone running iOS 17.2 or later.
