In a recent interview, Aly Goni spoke his heart out about facing discrimination while looking for a home in the city. He said that he faced bias for being a Kashmiri Muslim.
Popular television actor Aly Goni who is currently seen in Laughter Chefs season 2 is in a relationship with Jasmin Bhasin. The two are one of the most beloved couples in the industry. The head over heels in love couple decides to take a major step in their relationship and move in together in Mumbai. But the actor revealed that their house-hunting was not easy.
In a recent interview, Aly opened up about the discrimination he faced while hunting for a home in the city and revealed the bias he encountered for being a Kashmiri Muslim. Speaking on the InControversial Podcast, Aly how he faced rejection by landlords despite being a familiar face in the industry. “I have never faced discrimination in the industry for being Kashmiri. However, I faced it a lot during the house hunt. Aaj bhi hota hai. Jasmin and I were searching for a house, but many people rejected us, saying, ‘Hum Muslims ko ghar nahi dete.’ The majority of them were the old people,” he revealed.
Aly even said that despite growing success, some societal barriers still exist in the country. He also admitted that housing prejudice was a bitter reality that he had to face. The handsome star also spoke about his journey in the industry and the challenges he faced.
“The struggle is there. It is everywhere, but in showbiz, we get a lot of disappointments. We faced a lot of challenges right from the audition process to casting in the show. Nowadays, due to social media, people get famous by making reels. Sometimes we would doubt ourselves when the casting director avoided us casting in the project by giving some vague reasons. Young actors don’t know what the audition is. I got support from the industry people. Especially, Ekta Kapoor has kept me in every possible show of Balaji. Struggle is never going to end,” he said.
On the personal front, Aly is madly in love with Jasmin and the two have given major couple goals. The two are living together and fans will have to wait to hear the wedding bells.
