Patriots announce team Hall of Fame finalists

The 2025 Patriots’ Hall of Fame finalists were announced on Thursday, which include Julian Edelman, Logan Mankins, and Adam Vinatieri. 

After former Patriot John Hannah was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991, the organization created its own hall to honor greats throughout the history of the franchise. 

In 2008, the Kraft family opened The Patriots Hall of Fame, an interactive museum that honors the inductees and to give fans a unique way to celebrate the accomplishments and moments through advanced technology ventures. 

The selection committee is formed by media, team staff, and Patriots alumni, who come together each spring to nominate past players and coaches for the honor. The top three are announced to the public, and fans vote for the final winner. 

Fans can vote this year’s nominees until April 30 at midnight. Here is everything you need to know about each candidate and their time wearing a Patriots jersey. 

Julian Edelman, wide receiver 

Julian Edelman, now known for his podcast “Games with Names” and for being featured on the “Roast of Tom Brady,” played for the Pats from 2009 to 2020 as a wide receiver. 

Despite being a seventh-round pick, Edelman has accolades that still hold today. Some of these include being second in franchise history with 620 receptions and fourth in receiving yards at 6,822. In the entirety of the NFL, the former wide receiver ranks third for postseason receptions (118) and yards (1,442).

Edelman has helped New England win three Super Bowls in 2015, 2017 and 2019. In Super Bowl LIII, he was awarded MVP for his 10 receptions for 141 yards. 

Logan Mankins, guard 

Logan Mankins was a first-round pick for the Patriots in 2005 and was a consistent force for New England until he was traded in 2014. 

Mankins played 130 regular season games and 17 postseason games. His contribution helped the offense stay within the top 10 of the league for eight of his seasons with the team. 

During his time with the Patriots, the guard was selected for the Pro Bowl seven times and was named an All-Pro once. Mankins is the only player who has not been inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame after being recognized as a finalist three times. 

Adam Vinatieri, kicker 

In Adam Vinatieri’s 24-season career, he spent 10 seasons with the Patriots, from 1996 to 2005. His contribution to the team helped create the New England dynasty. 

Vinatieri set numerous NFL records including all-time scoring leader (2,673 points), most career field goals made (599), most postseason points (238) and overtime field goals (12). 

The kicker’s fame with Patriots fans comes from his game-winning kicks in Super Bowls XXXVI, helping send New England to their first championship, and XXXVIII, where he made a 41-yard field goal that secured the organization’s second title. Vinatieri is a 4-time Super Bowl winner, three of which he earned when he was a Patriot.
