Police disperse youths affecting Shirley businesses

Officers were called at 5.50pm on Thursday, July 24, to reports of the group attempting to enter the supermarket in Shirley Precinct.

Police confirmed that some of the teenagers are “banned” from entering the store and “left of their own accord” after officers arrived at the scene.

However, a spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary confirmed the children were “acting anti-socially throughout the evening affecting local businesses in Shirley,” before they eventually left the area.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary added: “We continue to encourage anyone with information about crime and anti-social behaviour in Shirley to report this to police.

“You can provide information to us by calling 101. Dial 999 if a crime is in progress.”
