Eastleigh business that played role in Covid-19 testing sold

Date:

The Giles family sold Eastleigh-based Alpha Laboratories, which they had owned for more than 50 years, to Diploma PLC.

Andrew Shepperd, director of Entrepreneurs Hub Ltd, who helped the Giles family find a buyer, said: “Alpha Laboratories coming to market represented a rare opportunity for buyers to acquire an independent, specialist in vitro diagnostic (IVD) medical distributor with a track record of financial stability and attractive annual growth.”

The business, which is a core supplier of medical products to the NHS across the UK, delivers home testing kits for bowel cancer.

Nathan Giles, on behalf of the Giles family, said: “Alpha Laboratories has been a significant part of our family’s lives for decades, since our father David Giles was one of the founding members.

“With this sale we are confident we are leaving the company in good hands.”
