Fareham council wants residents opinions on housing policy

Date:

The policy aims to make tenants aware of the procedures if they wish to move to a smaller property.

This usually happens when tenants’ needs change and they want to downsize.

It helps free up larger homes for families, ensures necessary housing adaptations are utilised effectively, and allows smaller households to find accommodation more suited to their needs.

A consultation is open until September 1, gathering feedback on the clarity and conciseness of the policy document.

Residents can access the policy and provide their feedback via a short survey online.

Councillor Fred Birkett, executive member for housing at Fareham Borough Council, said: “Fareham Housing is committed to providing more housing choices to build strong and healthy communities.

“Right-sizing is about ensuring that the right people have the right homes to meet their needs.

“I encourage residents to have their say on this policy document.”
