Arsenal could finally get the top striker they have been craving, with reports suggesting that Viktor Gyokeres is close to signing. Gyokeres is not keen on returning to Sporting, but the Gunners must find an agreement with the Portuguese club regarding the transfer fee.
Arsenal Close to Securing Gyokeres from Sporting
Following criticism for their lack of focus in securing a top striker, the North London side is looking to address this issue this summer. Previous rumours linking them with Swedish international Gyokeres seem set to become a reality.
According to multiple media reports (via Fabrizio Romano), Arsenal are now edging closer to securing the 27-year-old attacker. The Gunners have reportedly agreed on personal terms with Gyokeres’ camp, but must now work on a deal with Sporting.
The former Brighton and Hove Albion forward has informed his plan to part ways with his current club and won’t be joining their preseason training camp. Romano even added that Gyokeres is open to giving up 2m Euros from his salary to facilitate his move from Sporting to Arsenal.
An agreement could arrive soon, as long as both parties are not too far apart in their valuation for the striker. Before dealing with Gyokeres, Arsenal have already added some new faces to their squad this season with the arrival of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi.
