Southampton: Police collect drug ‘needles’ from Polygon park

Date:

A social media post said that police had worked with Southampton City Council to tidy up the paraphernalia from the Rollesbrook Park area.

The greenway in The Polygon area of the city is a patch of woodland that runs from Wilton Avenue and along the back of properties on Commercial Road.

A path runs through the northern part of the green space, but “a large proportion” of it is “densely wooded, in a wild, natural state”, the city council’s website says.

A spokesperson for Hampshire police said: “Police had worked with the Council in the Rollesbrook Park area.

“This included the removal of needles and other drug items from the confines of the park. This is to create a safe space for all.”

Comments on Facebook praised the removal as a “good idea” but argued that the same needs to be done in the city’s other parks.
