Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) kicked off their 2025 FIFA Club World Cup campaign in style with a commanding 4-0 victory over Atlético Madrid on Sunday at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
Fresh off their 5-0 demolition of Inter Milan in the Champions League final on May 31, PSG picked up where they left off, dominating Atlético with fluid attacking play and clinical finishing.

Goals from Fabián Ruiz, Vitinha, Senny Mayulu, and Lee Kang-In sealed the three points for the French champions, who controlled the game from start to finish.
PSG settled into their rhythm early, and Atlético goalkeeper Jan Oblak was called into action repeatedly. He blocked a shot from Gonçalo Ramos in the 17th minute and then denied Khvicha Kvaratskhelia moments later with a superb diving save.
But the breakthrough came in the 19th minute. A slick passing move down the right flank ended with Kvaratskhelia laying off for Ruiz, who swept home a low finish to make it 1-0.
Atlético struggled to contain PSG’s relentless tempo, and their frustrations soon boiled over. Clément Lenglet was booked for a reckless tackle on Achraf Hakimi in the 21st minute, followed by Robin Le Normand receiving a yellow card for a foul on Ruiz.
PSG’s dominance continued in the second half with further goals from Vitinha, teenager Senny Mayulu, and Lee Kang-In to round off a one-sided contest.
Luis Enrique’s men will face Brazil’s Botafogo in their next group match in Pasadena on Thursday, before wrapping up the group stage against Major League Soccer side Seattle Sounders on June 23.
