Arsenal have initiated discussions with Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey regarding a contract extension as part of a wider squad update that also saw the departure of several first-team players.
Partey, who joined the Gunners from Atlético Madrid in 2020, is entering the final month of his current deal, which expires on June 30. Arsenal stated that “discussions are ongoing” regarding a new agreement.
Meanwhile, Italy international Jorginho, Scottish full-back Kieran Tierney, Brazilian goalkeeper Neto, and winger Raheem Sterling are among the players confirmed to be leaving. Sterling, once a key figure for England, was on a season-long loan from Chelsea and will return to Stamford Bridge.
The club’s announcement comes on the back of another strong domestic campaign, with Arsenal finishing second in the Premier League for a third consecutive season under Mikel Arteta.
