Freemantle: Police make drugs arrest in Cemetery Road

Police were called to Freemantle in the early hours of Saturday morning following a report of a man with a knife in a public area.

Officers detained a 49-year-old man from Bournemouth in Cemetery Road shortly after 1am, while no knife was found, a search of the suspect’s vehicle uncovered a significant amount of cash, Class A drugs, Class B drugs, and other drug-related items.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “The male was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and taken to Southampton custody for further investigation.

“We know some may see this as ‘just drugs,’ but the truth is far more serious.

“Drug crime affects everyone, from the harm caused to vulnerable individuals forced into production and sales to the wider impact on our communities.”
