Bears’ draft pick completes return on trade for Bryce Young

Date:

Caleb Williams now has another big-time target to work with. The Chicago Bears selected wide receiver Luther Burden III from Missouri with the No. 39 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The pick completed the Bears’ return on the 2023 blockbuster trade with the Carolina Panthers that helped bring them Williams in the first place.

Going into the 2023 draft, the Bears own the No. 1 overall pick, but because they were not quite ready to give up on then-starter Justin Fields they traded the pick to Carolina, who went on to pick quarterback Bryce Young.

In return, the Bears received wide receiver DJ Moore, two first-round picks (No. 9 overall in 2023 and what would become the No. 1 pick in 2024) and two second-round picks (2023 and 2025).

Those picks have resulted in the Bears getting Williams (No. 1 in 2024), offensive tackle Darnell Wright (No. 9 in 2023), cornerback Tyrique Stevenson (second-round pick in 2023) and now Burden III.
