Omolara Awoyemi, product leader, Amazon

Date:

Omolara Awoyemi, for over 15 years, has been at the forefront of innovation in the internet industry, driven by a passion for building and scaling products that make a difference. Her journey has taken her through the corridors of tech giants and startup disruptors, from Amazon and Facebook to Jumia and IrokoTV, where she has honed her expertise in product growth leadership, people management, entrepreneurship, operations and strategic partnerships.

Today, as she leads the customer data and intelligence platform at Amazon Business, she continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in the digital landscape. Her approach combines strategic vision with hands-on leadership, guiding high-performance teams to tackle complex challenges head-on.

However, her work extends far beyond the corporate sphere. As an advocate for diversity and inclusion in tech, she is dedicated to creating pathways for women and people of colour across the globe. This commitment led her to invest in and mentor African entrepreneurs through Fast Forward Venture Studio, where she helps nurture the next generation of innovators solving critical problems.

Omolara’s efforts have not gone unnoticed, with recognition from the Obama Foundation, TechCrunch, Alibaba Africa Heroes, and Leading Ladies Africa, to name a few. Yet, it is the impact on individuals and communities that truly drives her. With an MBA from MIT and a wealth of cross-industry experience, Omolara wants to leverage technology for positive change. Whether she is in the boardroom strategising their next product launch or mentoring a promising startup founder in Lagos, her goal remains the same: to foster innovation, create opportunities, and build a more inclusive digital future for all.

As a Product Leader at Amazon Business (AB), she drives the vision, strategic direction, and execution of AB’s customer data platform, leading a team of data scientists, software engineers, and program managers to deliver a comprehensive customer data and intelligence platform that caters to the needs of AB’s go-to-market teams. Omolara’s work directly contributes to AB’s ability to leverage data for strategic decision-making, have unique customer insights, and drive revenue growth. Her role enables Amazon to understand better and serve its diverse B2B customers.

Omolara Awoyemi was the former MD SureGroup, a financial services company with a focus on non-cash solutions. She was also the former country Manager, JumiaPay at Jumia Nigeria. Before then, she was Head of Strategic Partnerships & Payment Solution at same, where she built and managed business executive relationships with dynamic partners in the market – including Jumia investors in Nigeria (MTN and AXA Mansard), banks, FMCGs, payment solution providers, loyalty scheme providers, airlines, and more.
