Thousands of Christians under the umbrella of the Church Denominational Leaders Forum on the Plateau, on Monday, stormed the streets of Jos, Plateau State capital, in a massive protest against the ongoing killings in the state.
The demonstrators carried placards with inscriptions such as “The Ground Cries Blood,” “Every Human Life Matters,” “We Deserve to Live”, and “No More Silence, Peace Now”.
BusinessDay reports that the peaceful protest began at Fwavvel Junction and ended at the Plateau State Government House in Jos, where the demonstrators were received and addressed by Governor Caleb Mutfwang.
The protest comes in the wake of renewed violence that has claimed more than 100 lives in Bokkos and Bassa local government areas within the first two weeks of April 2025.
The protesters expressed deep anger and grief, lamenting the federal government’s inability to bring the perpetrators to justice or stop the carnage.

Amos Mohzo, Chairman of the Denominational Leaders Forum, while delivering their message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu through Governor Caleb Mutfwang in government house Jos, said the protest was a solemn response to the killings.
According to him, it was a mark of honour for the dead and a strong call for justice and immediate end to all forms of bloodshed in Plateau and Nigeria at large.
Mohzo condemned the killings in totality and held nothing back in expressing the community’s frustrations.
“We are tired of mass burials “Enough is Enough,” he said.
He strongly rejected claims that the attacks were communal clashes, insisting that what is unfolding is a coordinated onslaught against the people of Plateau.
“This is not a communal crisis; it is a brutal campaign against innocent lives in Plateau,” he stated firmly.
He also questioned the role of security agencies, especially the military, in the face of consistent attacks.
He expressed disbelief that killings continued to occur near military barracks without any intervention.

He further called on the federal government to show stronger political will and commitment to protect lives and property.
Responding to the protesters, Governor Mutfwang assured them that the government would not relent in its pursuit of justice.
“I did not become governor to observe burial ceremonies. I came for the glory of Plateau to be restored”.
He confirmed that the killings were not limited to Bokkos and Bassa alone, as similar incidents, though on a smaller scale, had occurred in other local governments.
He assured the crowd that those arrested in connection to the violence would not go unpunished.
While promising to convey the message to President Bola Tinubu, he said the president had given his word that the federal government would take decisive steps to end the killings across the state.
The protest ended with prayers and a vow by the Church Denominational Leaders Forum to continue pressing for peace and justice. The Forum pledged to maintain pressure on all authorities until meaningful action is taken to secure lives and communities in Plateau State.
