After Bassa killings, IGP deploys tactical team to reinforce security in Plateau

Following the recent deadly attacks in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State that claimed several lives, Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has deployed a tactical team to strengthen security efforts and restore calm in the region.

The IGP who visited the state on Tuesday, highlighted the urgency with which the Nigeria Police Force is responding to the situation.

He was accompanied by top police officials, including Funsho Adegboye, in charge of the Police Mobile Force; Zachariah Fera, AIG Zone 4 and Nwonyi Polycarp Emeka, Commandant of the Police Staff College Jos, AIG.

During a visit to the Plateau State Government House in Jos, IGP Egbetokun met with Governor Caleb Mutfwang, where he expressed condolences on behalf of the Force and condemned the attacks.

He reassured the governor and the people of Plateau State of the Police Force’s commitment to deploying all necessary resources to apprehend the perpetrators and restore peace.

The police chief also held a closed-door meeting with tactical commanders to review ongoing operations and improve the deployment of personnel and assets across the state.

He has directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Kwazhi Dali Yakubu, to oversee security interventions in Plateau and lead efforts to stabilise the area.

In a statement signed by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, the Nigeria Police reaffirmed its commitment to justice and pledged continued support in bringing lasting peace to Plateau State and other affected communities across the country.
